Our Curriculum is based on the North Carolina Foundations of Early Learning and Development. You can read about these learning standards by clicking HERE. We also use the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning, SEFEL.
We use the Creative Curriculum for Preschool and its companion, Teaching Strategies Gold to guide and assess our students in their development in the following domains: Social-Emotional,Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, and Math. The Creative Curriculum is designed in units of studies, lasting any where from 3 to 6 weeks, based on student interests. Our students will engage the Beginning of the Year study, Trees study, Balls study, Clothing study, Buildings study, Pets study, and Reduce/Reuse/Recycle. Additionally, we modify the Social-Emotional Curriculum called Second Step to suit our children's needs. We also have music resources entitled Music and Me. Because all of our students have Individualized Education Plans, we will constantly modify and adapt these studies to the needs of each child. Their IEP's serve as a crucial component of the curriculum, as students, families, and teachers strive to support the learners in making progress toward each goal. |
